Seoul Stocks Surge on Tech Gains Amid Easing Middle East Tensions

Seoul:South Korean stocks opened sharply higher, driven by gains in major tech companies, after the Nasdaq Composite in the U.S. recorded consecutive all-time highs.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) increased by 136.08 points, or 1.94 percent, reaching 7,153.99 at the start of trading.

The rise in investor sentiment was fueled by a continued rally in stocks connected to artificial intelligence (AI) and optimism over reducing tensions in the Middle East. Diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the situation in the Middle East have also contributed to a decrease in oil prices.
