Nagoya:South Korea: The South Korean men's and women's table tennis teams each secured bronze medals at the Asian Games following their semifinal matches against Japan, which ended in shutout losses.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the men's team was defeated 3-0 at Sky Hall Toyota, near Nagoya. Jang Woo-jin, An Jae-hyun, and Oh Jun-sung lost their singles matches. Jang was defeated by Sora Matsushima 3-1, An lost to Tomokazu Harimoto 3-0, and Oh fell to Shunsuke Togami 3-2.

The women's team also lost 3-0. Shin Yu-bin was defeated by Hina Hayata, Joo Cheon-hui was beaten by Miwa Harimoto, and Kim Na-yeong lost to Miyu Nagasaki, all with straight 3-0 scores.

As there are no bronze medal matches in table tennis team events, South Korea automatically received bronze medals for their performances in the semifinals.

Historically, South Korea last won a men's team gold at the Asian Games in 1990, while their last women's team gold was in 1986. Since then, China has dominated the gold medal standings in table tennis.

Despite the challenges, South Korea achieved a milestone this year when Shin Yu-bin, with partner Jeon Ji-hee, won the women's doubles gold, marking the first table tennis Asiad gold for the country in 21 years. Shin is now competing in doubles with Joo and is a strong contender in mixed doubles with Lim Jong-hoon, where they are ranked world No. 1.
