Teen Golfer Yang Yun-seo Reflects on Growth After Missing Medal at Asian Games

Kasugai:After narrowly missing out on a medal in women's golf at the Asian Games, South Korean teen golfer Yang Yun-seo expressed her determination to use the experience as a stepping stone for future growth.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Yang was one of three amateurs representing South Korea in the women's tournament at the Aichi-Nagoya Asiad. She finished with the best individual score on her team at seven-under 273, placing fourth and just seven strokes shy of the bronze medal.

In the team competition, South Korea also finished in fourth place with a combined score of seven-under, trailing Chinese Taipei by three strokes. Yang expressed her honor in representing South Korea, noting that competing against international players will aid her career development.

Yang, aged 18, plans to turn professional soon and aims to secure a spot on the Korea LPGA Tour for the upcoming season. Her teammates, Park Seo-jin and Kim Gyu-been, struggled in the final rounds, finishing three-over and nine-over, respectively, which left Yang as the sole contender for a team medal.

Yang's efforts to close the gap with Chinese Taipei culminated in a birdie on the 16th hole, but her chances dwindled after a par-bogey finish on the final two holes. She acknowledged the pressure of being her team's last hope for a medal and the challenges posed by difficult course conditions, particularly on the softer greens and fairways following heavy rain.

Despite these challenges, Yang is optimistic about her future prospects and dreams of competing in the Olympics. She aspires to become a consistent and successful golfer with a long career.
