Kim Joo-hyung Wins Gold in Men’s Golf at Asian Games

Kasugai:PGA Tour winner Kim Joo-hyung captured the men's golf gold medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Saturday, contributing to South Korea's success with a silver in the team event.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim achieved a six-under 64 in the final round at Kasugai Country Club East Course, located just northeast of Nagoya, concluding the tournament at 18-under 262.

This victory not only secures a gold medal for Kim but also exempts him from mandatory military service, as athletes who win an Asian Games gold and have not already served are eligible for this exemption. Kim, a four-time PGA Tour champion, joins other notable athletes benefiting from this exemption, including fellow PGA Tour veterans Kim Si-woo and Im Sung-jae, who secured the team gold medal three years ago.

In the team competition, which combined the two best scores from three players for each country after every round, South Korea finished second to China with a total of 26-under.
