Nagoya:Oh Sang-uk, a double gold medalist in men's fencing at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, was honored as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the South Korean delegation.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Oh was selected for this accolade through voting by South Korean media representatives covering the continental competition in Japan. The Korean Sport and Olympic Committee (KSOC) recognized top athletes at multisport events starting with the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games. As the MVP, Oh will receive 30 million won (approximately US$22,240).

In the team fencing competition, the victory goes to the side reaching 45 points first. In the sabre team final, South Korea was trailing Japan 40-39 before the last bout between Oh and Mao Kokubo. The gap widened to 44-41, putting South Korea on the brink of defeat. However, Oh remarkably scored four consecutive points, leading his team to victory.

South Korea won four gold medals in fencing at the Games, with Oh responsible for securing two of them.
