Seoul: Samsung Heavy Industries Co. announced Monday it has secured a 1.65 trillion-won (US$1.22 billion) contract to construct four large liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers and two oil tankers.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the South Korean shipbuilder disclosed in a regulatory filing that the contract was signed with an undisclosed client based in Oceania. This latest deal contributes to Samsung Heavy's impressive year, having secured contracts totaling US$7.3 billion for 42 commercial vessels, which include 18 LNG carriers.

The company has also achieved significant success with two floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) production, storage, and offloading facilities, valued at a combined $4.4 billion. With these additions, Samsung Heavy's cumulative orders for 2026 have reached $11.7 billion, accounting for 84 percent of its overall annual target.
