Wonsan:Pyongyang The sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has confirmed that the nation launched an intermediate-range strategic missile during a firing drill on Saturday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim Yo-jong announced through the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) that the drill, involving a strategic weapon aimed toward the East Sea of Korea, took place at dawn.
Kim Jong-un personally supervised the exercise, which was executed by a firepower sub-unit, as per the KCNA report.
South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff also detected the launch of a ballistic missile from the Wonsan area toward the East Sea earlier that morning.
