Suwon: SSG Landers slugger Choi Jeong extended his record home run streak Tuesday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Choi launched a solo home run off KT Wiz's starting pitcher Matt Sauer during their Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) regular-season game at KT Wiz Park in Suwon, approximately 30 kilometers south of Seoul. This marked his 10th home run of the season, making it the 21st consecutive season he has reached double figures in home runs.
Choi holds the KBO's all-time home run record with 528 home runs, surpassing former Samsung Lions star Lee Seung-yuop, who retired in 2017 with 467 home runs. No other player is within 100 home runs of Choi's record.
Among active players, two Samsung Lions teammates stand out. Choi Hyoung-woo has hit at least 10 home runs for 18 consecutive seasons, while Kang Min-ho has achieved this feat for 16 seasons. As of Tuesday, Choi Hyoung-woo had seven home runs for the season, whereas Kang Min-ho had yet to hit any.
Choi Jeong, who began his KBO career in 2005 as an 18-year-old, has hit at least 20 home runs in 10 consecutive seasons, setting another KBO record.
