Five Foreign Car Brands to Recall Over 117,000 Vehicles for Faulty Parts

Seoul: Volvo Car Korea, Mercedes-Benz Korea, Man Truck and Bus Korea, along with two other foreign car brands, are set to voluntarily recall more than 117,000 vehicles due to manufacturing defects, as announced by the transport ministry.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the five companies, including Jaguar Land Rover Korea and Nissan Korea, are collectively recalling 117,925 units across 49 models sold in South Korea. This extensive recall is aimed at addressing various manufacturing issues identified in these vehicles.

Volvo Car Korea is recalling 95,573 units of eight different models, including the XC60, due to a software error in the event data recorder. This defect may lead to driving information not being recorded properly, necessitating the recall.

Mercedes-Benz Korea will recall 17,285 units of nine models, such as the S580 4MATIC. The recall is prompted by insufficient durability in the brake hoses, which could potentially compromise vehicle safety.

Man Truck and Bus Korea is addressing a defect in the central vehicle control system by recalling 1,515 units across 24 models. This recall aims to rectify issues that could impact vehicle operation.

Jaguar Land Rover Korea will undertake corrective measures on 1,401 units of four models, including the New Range Rover P530 LWB. The recall is due to the risk of moisture entry in the rear camera, which may obstruct driving visibility.

Nissan Korea is recalling 591 units of the Pathfinder model due to a defective hood part. This defect poses the risk of the hood opening while driving, which could endanger both the driver and other road users.
