Yoon Engages in First Summit with Brunei’s Sultan to Enhance Bilateral Relations.

Lima: President Yoon Suk Yeol met with Brunei's Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Lima, Peru. The meeting aimed at exploring avenues for expanding bilateral ties in sectors such as the defense industry, infrastructure, and digital technologies, as confirmed by Yoon's office. According to Yonhap News Agency, President Yoon emphasized the existing economic relations between the two nations, particularly in crude oil trade and construction projects. He expressed an aspiration to broaden the scope of cooperation to include new sectors like defense industries, smart cities, and digital technologies. Sultan Bolkiah acknowledged the significant contributions made by South Korean companies to Brunei's infrastructure development projects. He expressed a commitment to furthering collaboration in tackling climate change and enhancing cybersecurity capabilities.
