Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he had a "positive" conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping, covering significant global issues such as Taiwan, the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and Iran. The phone call also addressed Trump's planned visit to Beijing in April.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Trump shared details of the discussions on social media, describing the exchange with Xi as "long and thorough." This conversation marked the first direct phone talks between the two leaders since November 24. They discussed China's purchase of U.S. oil and gas, potential increases in U.S. agricultural imports, and airplane deliveries to China. Notably, China is considering raising its soybean purchase total to 20 million tons for the current season.

Trump expressed optimism about the U.S.-China relationship, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a strong personal rapport with President Xi. He stated his belief that the coming years of his presidency would yield positive outcomes in collaboration with China.

The call also sets the stage for Trump's anticipated trip to China in April, which could pave the way for renewed diplomatic engagements with North Korea's leader, Kim Jong-un. However, it remains uncertain whether North Korea will respond favorably to dialogue proposals from the United States.
