Busan: With three rounds of LIV Golf Korea completed through Saturday, Mun Do-yeob and Song Young-han are tied as the top local players, both at three-under par with one round remaining at the par-70 Asiad Country Club in Busan. The two members of Korean Golf Club are positioned in 14th place, trailing the co-leaders, Joaquin Niemann of Chile and Talor Gooch of the United States, by six strokes.
According to Yonhap News Agency, overcoming the deficit to secure a victory may be challenging for Mun and Song, but they have a realistic chance of achieving a top-10 finish on Sunday. Since LIV Golf's inaugural season in 2022, only one South Korean national, Korean Golf Club captain An Byeong-hun, has secured a top-10 finish, tying for ninth at the 2026 season opener in Riyadh.
Mun, a six-time KPGA Tour winner, recently joined Korean Golf Club, replacing Korean-born Kiwi Danny Lee. He was leading the KPGA Tour in the Player of the Year points rankings this season before transitioning to LIV Golf. Mun started Saturday four strokes off the lead at four-under but faced challenges with a double bogey on the par-3 third hole. Despite this setback, Mun managed to recover with birdies on the fourth, seventh, and tenth holes. However, a bogey on the 11th hole and additional bogeys in the final seven holes hindered his progress.
Song experienced a slow start, encountering three bogeys and one birdie over his initial six holes. He recovered with seven consecutive pars and concluded with three birdies in the final five holes. Meanwhile, the other Korean Golf Club members, An and Kim Min-kyu, are tied for 47th at four-over, both shooting 71s on Saturday.
In the team standings, Korean Golf Club is in eighth place out of 13 teams at two-over. The team has struggled in recent tournaments, finishing last in four of the past five events, and entered the Busan tournament in last place overall for the season.
