Seoul: South Korea's homegrown Nuri rocket is scheduled for launch on October 7, aiming to deploy 15 satellites into orbit, the Korea AeroSpace Administration (KASA) announced on Thursday. The anticipated launch will occur at the Naro Space Center in Goheung, located approximately 473 kilometers south of Seoul, with the launch window set between 12:23 p.m. and 1:23 p.m. The precise timing will be confirmed on the day of the launch, KASA stated.

According to Yonhap News Agency, a backup launch window is available from October 8 to October 14, should any delays occur. This mission marks the fifth launch of the domestically developed Nuri rocket, following its initial launch in October 2021. The first attempt did not succeed in placing a 1.5-ton dummy satellite into orbit. However, subsequent attempts have seen improved success rates.

In June 2022, South Korea's second attempt successfully launched a Performance Verification Satellite and a 1.3-ton dummy satellite into orbit. The third launch, conducted in May 2023, successfully sent a next-generation small satellite and seven cube satellites into space. The fourth launch, in November 2025, achieved another milestone with the successful deployment of 13 satellites.

For its upcoming mission, the Nuri rocket will carry 15 satellites, which include a nano satellite constellation made up of five spacecraft. These satellites are presently undergoing functional checks at the Naro Space Center, as confirmed by KASA.
