Seoul:Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co. has reported an impressive increase in its third-quarter net profit, reaching 485 billion won (US$362.8 million), marking a 115.7 percent rise compared to the previous year.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the electronic components arm of Samsung Electronics Co. disclosed in a regulatory filing that its operating income for the July-September period soared to 691 billion won, reflecting a 165.5 percent increase from the same period last year. Meanwhile, the company's revenue saw a 30.3 percent rise, totaling 3.76 trillion won.

Despite these substantial gains, the company's earnings fell short of market expectations. Analysts, as surveyed by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data arm of Yonhap News Agency, had anticipated a net profit average of 509.9 billion won. Samsung Electro-Mechanics specializes in products such as multilayer ceramic capacitors, semiconductor substrates, and camera modules.
