South Korea Secures Fourth Consecutive Asian Games Men’s Football Gold

Toyota:South Korea triumphed over Japan with a 1-0 victory to claim their fourth consecutive gold medal in men's football at the Asian Games, held on Saturday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the decisive goal was scored by Eom Ji-sung in the 61st minute at Toyota Stadium, located approximately 30 kilometers east of Nagoya, the main host city. This victory marks the third consecutive time South Korea has defeated Japan in the Asiad men's football finals.

The match saw early attempts from both teams, with Eom Ji-sung missing a shot high in the sixth minute, followed by Japan's Tariqkani Hayato Okabe nearly scoring from a corner kick, sending the ball over the goal. Opportunities were scarce until Japan's Yuya Fukunaga narrowly missed in the 37th minute.

After halftime, Japan intensified their attack with several threatening shots, but it was Eom who broke the deadlock with a goal against the run of play. Yang Min-hyeok's determined play on the right wing led to a cross that goalkeeper Rui Araki deflected to Eom. Eom deftly maneuvered around defender Rei Umeki and scored with a left-footed shot as he fell.

Despite Japan's dominance in possession during the later stages, which included a shot hitting the post by Hisatsugu Ishii, South Korea managed to hold on for the win, preventing Japan from equalizing.
