Nagoya:South Korea The South Korean men's football team is set to compete for their fourth consecutive Asian Games gold medal on Saturday, during the penultimate day of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in central Japan.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the South Korean under-23 national football team, coached by Lee Min-sung, will face Japan in the gold medal match at 730 p.m. This will mark the third consecutive Asian Games men's football final between these two teams. The South Korean squad includes notable attackers such as Eom Ji-sung from Swansea City, Lee Young-jun from Grasshopper, and Bae Jun-ho from Stoke City, all of whom play in Europe.
In addition to football, other events are drawing to a close on Saturday. The archery competition will conclude with the men's and women's individual recurve events. Lee Woo-seok is the only South Korean man to reach the quarterfinals, while Kang Chae-young and Oh Ye-jin compete in the women's quarterfinals.
In taekwondo, 2024 Olympic champion Kim Yu-jin aims for her first Asian Games gold in the women's -57 kilograms category, and Kang Sang-hyun is a strong contender in the men's +80kg category.
Sport climber Seo Chae-hyun, who recently won a bronze in the women's boulder event, will participate in the lead climbing event, seeking her first Asian Games gold. Additionally, Kim Joo-hyung, a four-time PGA Tour winner, will be competing for both individual and team gold medals in men's golf.
