Kasugai:South Korea missed out on medals in both individual and team women's golf events at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Saturday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Yang Yun-seo was the top performer for South Korea, finishing fourth in the individual event with a score of seven-under 273. She was seven strokes behind Shannon Xuan Yin Tan of Singapore, who secured the bronze medal at Kasugai Country Club East Course.
Yang, aged 18, shot a two-under 68 in the final round, recording five birdies and three bogeys. Other South Korean golfers, Park Seo-jin and Kim Gyu-been, finished tied for 15th at three-over 283 and 21st at nine-over 289, respectively.
In the team competition, South Korea tied for fourth place with a score of seven-under, three strokes behind Chinese Taipei. This marks the first time since women's golf was introduced to the Asian Games in 1990 that South Korea has not won a medal in the event.
Pranavi Sharath Urs of India claimed the individual gold medal with a score of 15-under, while China's Yin Ruoning secured the silver after a sudden-death playoff with Singapore's Tan, both having finished at 14-under. China also won the team gold with a score of 22-under, followed by India with the silver at 14-under.
