Seoul: South Korea and Louisiana engaged in discussions on Thursday to enhance bilateral economic cooperation across various sectors, including petrochemicals and hydrogen, as reported by the trade ministry. Trade Minister Cheong In-kyo and Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry met in Seoul to explore opportunities to strengthen economic ties between South Korea and the United States. According to Yonhap News Agency, the meeting underscored South Korea's interest in collaborating with Louisiana, the third-largest U.S. state in natural gas production. Cheong highlighted potential areas for cooperation, specifically in the hydrogen and carbon capture, utilization, and storage sectors. Both officials acknowledged the importance of maintaining continuity in key U.S. trade policies, such as the Inflation Reduction Act, to foster positive impacts on bilateral cooperation. Cheong and Landry also emphasized the enduring strength of the relationship between South Korea and the U.S., bolstered by the landmark trilateral sum mit with Japan at Camp David in August last year. They vowed to uphold such stable relationships moving forward.
