Seoul: A senior executive from LG Energy Solution Ltd. departed for the United States on Sunday in response to the detention of hundreds of South Koreans by U.S. immigration authorities at a battery plant site in Georgia.

According to Yonhap News Agency, more than 300 South Korean nationals were taken into custody during a raid conducted by U.S. immigration authorities at the site operated by Hyundai Motor Group and LG Energy Solution in Bryan County. Out of the 457 people present, the majority were South Korean nationals.

Kim Ki-soo, the chief human resources officer at LG Energy Solution, addressed reporters before leaving for the U.S., emphasizing that their primary focus is the swift release of the detained individuals. "Our top priority now is working for the swift and early release of both LG Energy Solution employees and the staff of our partner company," Kim stated.

He further assured that both the Korean government and LG Energy Solution are making concerted efforts to address the situation. "As the Korean government is making all-out efforts to respond to the situation, we will also do our utmost to ensure everyone's safe and prompt return," he added.
