New York: Palestinian statehood and a two-state solution are set to be major topics at the upcoming United Nations General Assembly. France, Canada, Australia, Malta, Portugal, and Belgium have declared their intention to recognize a Palestinian state. Meanwhile, the United Kingdom has indicated it might do the same if Israel fails to make significant strides towards peace in the Gaza Strip, including agreeing to a ceasefire with Hamas and allowing UN aid into the enclave.
According to Deutsche Welle, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government have persistently condemned efforts to recognize a Palestinian state, arguing that such actions
