Seoul: Samsung Electronics Co. has introduced new air conditioners enhanced with artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, designed to tailor airflow based on individual housing environments and lifestyle patterns. The announcement was made on Thursday, highlighting the innovative features of the 2026 Bespoke AI WindFree Combo Gallery air conditioners, available in both wall-mounted and floor-standing models.
According to Yonhap News Agency, these advanced air conditioners are equipped with a motion sensor that not only detects user movements and locations but also provides a customized cooling experience. The AI features ensure optimal air distribution by sending cool air both directly and indirectly. This is achieved through a sophisticated motion sensor that monitors movement every second, adjusting airflow settings for various activities such as children's playtime or family dining.
The air conditioners also feature an automatic dehumidification function that saves energy by up to 30 percent, without significantly lowering the temperature. Samsung explained that unlike previous dehumidification methods that relied on temperature reduction, the new models cool the heat exchanger only as necessary.
Incorporating Samsung Electronics' Bixby AI platform, users can issue voice commands like "The air conditioner wind is too strong" or "Activate the air conditioner when the humidity is above 60 percent." The design includes easy-open panels, allowing users to clean the interior and reusable filters without professional assistance, while maintaining a minimalistic aesthetic to seamlessly fit into various living spaces.
Samsung emphasized its goal of providing silent comfort by focusing on the essential element of air. The company also noted that cumulative sales of its wind-free air conditioners have reached 13 million units since 2016. The technology behind Samsung's wind-free systems involves dispersing air through 32,000 micro holes to avoid direct airflow.
