Samsung Heavy Industries Secures Major LNG Carrier Order

Seoul:Samsung Heavy Industries Co. announced that it has secured a 672.2 billion-won (US$494.3 million) contract to construct two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the South Korean shipbuilder plans to deliver these vessels to an undisclosed Asian shipowner by May 2029, as detailed in a regulatory filing.

With this latest contract, Samsung Heavy has achieved a total of US$8 billion in contracts this year, involving the construction of 46 commercial vessels. This includes orders for two floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) production, storage, and offloading facilities.

Overall, Samsung Heavy Industries' total orders for the year have reached $12.4 billion, covering 48 vessels and facilities.
