Seoul: The head of South Korea's nuclear safety agency is set to attend the general conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, Austria, this week, the organization announced Monday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Chairman Choi Won-ho of the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission (NSSC) will participate in the conference, which will run from Monday to Friday, with representatives from 180 countries in attendance.

Choi is also slated to attend a meeting of the International Nuclear Regulators' Association (INRA), a consultative body founded in 1997 that includes nine countries such as the United States, Canada, Japan, and Germany.

Additionally, the nuclear agency chief plans to engage in discussions with counterparts from countries like the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Czech Republic, and Singapore to explore potential areas for cooperation, the NSSC noted.
