S. Korea to Initiate Intensified Crackdown on Illegal Chinese Fishing in West Sea.

Seoul: South Korea's oceans ministry announced its plan to conduct an intensified crackdown on Chinese boats that are illegally fishing in the West Sea. The initiative, which will be carried out in collaboration with the Coast Guard, is set to take place this week. According to Yonhap News Agency, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries has scheduled the operation from Tuesday to Thursday. The primary objective is to apprehend boats that are fishing or operating illegally within South Korea's Exclusive Economic Zone. Authorities will focus their efforts on addressing the issue of Chinese fishing boats participating in unauthorized fishing activities. Additionally, they will address cases where false reports about catch sizes are submitted. The ministry has also emphasized that it will take firm actions against any fishing boats that violently resist lawful inspections. Oceans Minister Kang Do-hyung stated, "We will continue to work closely with related organizations to protect the maritime resources in our wa ters and enforce order among Chinese fishing boats through stern crackdowns."
