Seoul: South Korea has been identified as having the top fifth-generation (5G) communications network infrastructure among the member countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), as highlighted by a recent report. According to Yonhap News Agency, the report reveals that South Korea boasts the highest number of 5G base stations relative to its population, with 593 stations per 100,000 inhabitants as of last year. This places the nation ahead of Lithuania and Finland, with the OECD average being around 100 stations. In terms of 5G connections per 100 inhabitants, South Korea ranks second with 63 connections, trailing behind the United States, which has 68.4 connections but significantly surpassing the OECD average of 38.6. Additionally, Seoul offers the most affordable triple-play bundled communication services, which include TV, internet, and voice, across all OECD nations. The report also indicates a 39 percent growth in investments in the communication sector across OECD countries over the past decade. This increase is attributed to the rising demand on networks amid the ongoing shift toward a "remote" and "digital" economy.
