South korea: South Korea is preparing to send a second contingent of the Korea Disaster Relief Team (KDRT) to Nepal to continue search-and-rescue operations in response to recent severe flooding, a foreign ministry official announced. This comes as the first contingent, deployed on September 2, prepares to return home.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the first KDRT contingent is scheduled to return on September 11 aboard a KC-330 transport aircraft. Initially, their mission was intended to last for 10 days but a government-private joint council decided on the return date. The second team will continue with the ongoing rescue operations.

The KDRT consists of 44 personnel from various sectors, including the foreign ministry and fire authorities, who established a base camp in Batar, Nuwakot district. This location serves as a significant waypoint to the flood-affected Rasuwa district, where nine South Koreans went missing amid massive floods and landslides. These individuals were working at the Upper Trishuli-1 hydropower plant construction site in Rasuwa.
