Seoul: Seoul and Beijing are making arrangements for summit talks between South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and Chinese President Xi Jinping early next year.

According to Yonhap News Agency, During an interview with Yonhap News TV, Cho confirmed that consultations with China are underway regarding the summit's timing. He mentioned that the date for the planned summit will be announced soon. A key topic for discussion is expected to be strategies to persuade North Korea to return to the dialogue table. Cho emphasized the importance of seeking China's cooperation to facilitate North Korea's engagement in dialogue.

South Korea has urged China to contribute to creating favorable conditions for resuming talks with North Korea. China has reiterated its commitment to maintaining stability on the Korean Peninsula. However, ongoing diplomatic tensions exist between Seoul and Beijing over China's construction of steel structures in the overlapping sea zone in the Yellow Sea. These structures have sparked speculation of territorial claims similar to those in the South China Sea.

Cho stated that discussions between Lee and Xi would also address the issue of China's steel structures in the Yellow Sea.
