Seoul: The presidential office on Monday conducted a press briefing at Cheong Wa Dae for the first time in approximately three and a half years, following the relocation of its office facilities. This briefing marks a significant return to the historic presidential compound.

According to Yonhap News Agency, presidential spokesperson Jeon Eun-soo led the briefing at the Chunchugwan press center. This event is notable as it was the first briefing held there under President Lee Jae Myung's administration. The change comes after the office was moved by former President Yoon Suk Yeol in 2022 to the defense ministry compound in Yongsan. Yoon's relocation decision was driven by the intention to enhance communication with the public, following his ousting over a failed martial law attempt.

Since assuming office in June, President Lee Jae Myung has expressed plans to move the presidential office back to Cheong Wa Dae once renovations are finalized. The completion of these renovations and the relocation of most facilities are anticipated to occur around Christmas.
