Kim Do-yeong Focused on Team Success Amid Kia Tigers’ Postseason Run

Daegu:Kia Tigers slugger Kim Do-yeong has emphasized his focus on team success rather than individual statistics during the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) postseason. Kim has been a key player in the Tigers' postseason surge, notably hitting three home runs, including a grand slam, to help sweep the defending champions LG Twins in the first round.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim led the KBO with 45 home runs in the regular season and has maintained his performance in the postseason. The Tigers are set to face the Samsung Lions in the second round. Despite individual accolades, Kim is focused on contributing to team victories. He stated, "I don't really care about my home runs or batting average in a postseason series," emphasizing the importance of staying focused on each pitch.

The upcoming games will be played at the Daegu Samsung Lions Park, known for yielding home runs due to its small dimensions. Kim has previously hit four home runs at this venue. The Tigers, who secured their spot in the second round by defeating the Twins, are seen as favorites against the Lions, despite the latter's second-place finish in the regular season, which granted them a bye to this round.

Kim believes the Tigers have an advantage due to their recent play, stating that the team feels in great shape after their previous series. He minimized his rest during the break to maintain his form, practicing even on optional days, hoping his routine continues to bring success in the upcoming games.
