Police and Military Initiate Joint Investigation into North Korea’s Drone Incursion Claims

Seoul: Police and military officials launched a joint investigation Monday to investigate North Korea's claims of drone incursions across the inter-Korean border.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the North's military claimed on Saturday that South Korea violated its sovereignty by sending drones into its territory in September and on January 4. However, Seoul's defense ministry has denied these accusations.

The joint team, comprising around 30 police and military officials, has begun investigating the alleged incursions, as reported by the National Police Agency's National Office of Investigation. South Korea's military has refuted the claims of sending drones or operating the models reportedly found in the North, suggesting instead that private entities might be responsible.

Police are said to be focusing on past incidents involving drones resembling the model revealed by North Korea. Experts have dismissed the possibility that the drones in question were operated by the military, noting they seem to be constructed with low-cost commercial components unsuitable for military operations.

Some experts have pointed out that the drones bear resemblance to a model produced by Chinese drone manufacturer Skywalker Technology.
