SEOUL: Prime Minister Han Duck-soo on Tuesday called for officials to come up with effective measures to prepare for potential policy changes in the United States under President-elect Donald Trump. Han made the call during a Cabinet meeting, anticipating "considerable policy shifts" in the U.S. across foreign affairs, security, trade, and industry after Trump takes office in January. According to Yonhap News Agency, Han emphasized the importance of maintaining a robust security cooperation framework between South Korea and the U.S., ensuring it operates without any gaps. He encouraged close information sharing with relevant industries to develop effective strategies in response to anticipated changes. Han also urged the Cabinet to continue advancing cooperation with the United States in advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence, advanced biotechnology, and quantum technologies. This move aims to fortify the solid South Korea-U.S. alliance with the new U.S. administration, protecting national s ecurity and interests. The Prime Minister pledged active support for Korean businesses abroad, recognizing the potential impacts of shifts in U.S. policy on South Korean industries.
