Pyongyang: North Korea has seen a flurry of diplomatic and military activities this week as it prepares for significant national celebrations.

According to Yonhap News Agency, North Korea held its annual defense exhibition on October 5 for the third consecutive year. The following day, leader Kim Jong-un emphasized the need to enhance naval power to counter potential threats.

Vietnam's top leader is set to visit North Korea to commemorate a key party anniversary, as reported by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). On October 7, Kim Jong-un conveyed to Russian President Vladimir Putin that the alliance between North Korea and Russia would continue steadfastly into the future. Chinese Premier Li Keqiang is also scheduled to visit North Korea for the first time in 16 years to attend the same anniversary.

On October 8, Kim Jong-un held talks with the President of Laos in Pyongyang, as per KCNA. The following day, Kim called for strict discipline among officials ahead of the party anniversary. High-ranking Russian and Vietnamese officials have arrived in North Korea in preparation for the upcoming celebrations. Russia's ruling party has expressed support for North Korea's initiatives to enhance its defense capabilities, according to KCNA.

On October 10, discussions between Kim and China's Premier Li focused on strengthening cooperation and strategic communication. Kim also pledged to transform North Korea into an 'affluent paradise' on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the party's founding. Furthermore, Kim and the Vietnamese leader discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation, reported KCNA. Meanwhile, the Joint Chiefs of Staff noted that rehearsals are underway for an imminent military parade in North Korea.

North Korea's recent activities reflect a strategic approach to bolster alliances and military readiness in anticipation of its major national celebrations.
