Seoul: Christopher Nolan's epic "The Odyssey" has maintained its dominance at the South Korean box office for the 40th consecutive day, as it attracted an additional 449,000 viewers over the weekend. The film surpassed the 10 million audience mark, according to data released on Monday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, "The Odyssey," which premiered on August 5, accounted for 51.5 percent of all ticket sales from Friday to Sunday, marking its sixth straight week at the top of the weekend chart. The film has drawn a total audience of 10.78 million, making it the seventh most-watched foreign film in South Korean history.

The film is based on Homer's epic poem and follows Odysseus, portrayed by Matt Damon, on his perilous journey home after the Trojan War. The star-studded cast also features Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Charlize Theron, and Zendaya. Meanwhile, the Hollywood horror film "Obsession" secured the second spot with 176,000 admissions over the three-day period, capturing an 18.6 percent market share and reaching a running total of 474,000 admissions. Distributors project it will surpass the 500,000 mark this week.

"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" took third place with 84,000 viewers, bringing its cumulative total to 8.93 million. Completing the top five were "The Drama," with 29,000 admissions, and the Korean film "Road to Gyeong-ju," with 17,000, featuring a cast that includes Lee Jung-eun, Gong Hyo-jin, Park So-dam, and Lee Yeon.
