New Yalu River Bridge to Open, Strengthening North Korea-China Connection

Dandong:A bridge connecting North Korea and China is set to officially open to traffic this Thursday, following years of inactivity since its construction.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the New Yalu River Bridge links the North Korean city of Sinuiju with Dandong in China. Despite its completion in October 2014, the bridge remained unused due to unfinished infrastructure on the North Korean side.

Recent sightings of vehicles crossing the 3,024-meter bridge suggest potential test runs ahead of the official opening. The bridge aims to enhance trade and personnel exchanges between the two nations.

This development follows a commitment by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and Chinese President Xi Jinping to elevate bilateral relations to a strategic level, as discussed during their June summit in Pyongyang.
