Seoul: The National Assembly on Wednesday adopted a confirmation hearing report for Han Seong-sook, the nominee for the minister of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups. This development clears a significant hurdle towards her official appointment.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the trade, industry, energy, SMEs and startups committee approved Han's nomination during a plenary session. This decision followed her confirmation hearing held last week, where her qualifications and vision for the role were evaluated.

Han Seong-sook brings to the position her extensive experience as the former CEO of Naver Corp., a leading internet portal company in South Korea, where she served from 2017 to 2022. Her nomination in June marked a milestone as she is set to become the first minister of SMEs and startups under the administration of Lee Jae Myung.
