Jinhae: The main blaze on a Navy warship that caught fire while entering a naval port in the southeastern city of Jinhae has been contained, the Navy reported. The incident occurred aboard the 2,600-ton ROKS Hyang Ro Bong, a landing ship, while it was entering the port on Thursday afternoon. The ship is located approximately 310 kilometers southeast of Seoul.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the fire started in the auxiliary engine system. Of the approximately 180 crew members on board, three sustained injuries. Fortunately, the injuries were not life-threatening, as confirmed by officials.

The main body of the fire was brought under control at 3:45 a.m., roughly 12 hours after it initially broke out. Efforts continue to extinguish the remaining flames, as stated by Navy officials. Among the injured, one crew member is receiving treatment for burns at a military hospital, while the other two have returned to their units after receiving medical attention.

The Navy is planning to establish a committee to investigate the exact cause of the fire. The committee will also explore measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
