Lee Jae Myung to Start Summer Vacation Next Week

Seoul: President Lee Jae Myung will take a weeklong summer vacation starting next week, his office announced on Friday. Although his official vacation period is scheduled from August 4 to August 8, Lee will effectively begin his break starting this weekend.

According to Yonhap News Agency, from Saturday, Lee will visit a presidential retreat on Jeodo Island off the south coast. During his stay, he plans to "review the political landscape, and recharge by reading and watching films," as stated by his office. Despite being on vacation, officials indicated that Lee will continue to monitor key state affairs, particularly those related to people's livelihood issues.

Additionally, Lee is expected to prepare for his first summit meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump. The summit, which was announced by Trump on Thursday, is set to take place at the White House in two weeks, although no specific date has been finalized. The meeting is anticipated to cover a wide range of topics, including follow-up measures to a recently concluded trade deal between the two nations.

Lee's upcoming vacation marks nearly two months since he took office on June 4, providing him with an opportunity to reflect on his tenure thus far and prepare for future engagements.
