Seoul: Tuesday's trading on the Korea Stock Exchange saw varied movements in the KOSPI 200 stocks, with some companies experiencing significant gains while others faced declines. Notably, Hyundai Motor and Samsung Fire and Marine Insurance were among the top performers.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Hyundai Engineering and Construction rose by 1,900 KRW, closing at 58,500 KRW. Hanwha also experienced an increase of 2,000 KRW, bringing its closing price to 90,800 KRW. Samsung Fire and Marine Insurance saw a rise of 9,500 KRW, closing at 454,000 KRW. In the biotechnology sector, Hanall Biopharma increased slightly by 200 KRW, closing at 35,000 KRW.
Other notable gainers included Kogas, which rose by 450 KRW to close at 40,850 KRW, and Korea Aerospace, which ended the day at 100,500 KRW, up by 3,000 KRW. SK shares increased by 1,500 KRW, reaching 226,000 KRW. Hankuk Carbon saw a rise of 1,600 KRW, closing at 36,850 KRW.
Conversely, some stocks faced declines. CJ fell by 900 KRW, closing at 169,900 KRW, while Samsung SDS dropped significantly by 3,100 KRW to end at 165,500 KRW. Daesang and Orion Holdings also experienced decreases, closing at 21,150 KRW and 19,380 KRW, respectively.
In the technology sector, SK Telecom saw a decrease of 200 KRW, closing at 54,300 KRW. Meanwhile, Misto Holdings and GS experienced declines, closing at 38,400 KRW and 46,250 KRW, respectively.
Overall, while the day witnessed a mix of gains and losses across various sectors, the rise of key stocks like Hyundai Motor and Samsung Fire and Marine Insurance highlighted strong performances in certain areas of the market.
