Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index witnessed substantial gains with several key players marking noteworthy increases in their closing prices. Companies such as Samsung Life, LG Chem, and KEPCO E and C led the upward trend, contributing to the overall positive performance of the index.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Samsung Life recorded a significant rise, closing at 197,500, up by 11,200. LG Chem also marked a notable increase, closing at 318,000 with an uptick of 11,500. KEPCO E and C saw one of the largest gains, closing at 148,200, up by 16,100. These increases reflect a broader positive sentiment in the market.
Other companies contributing to the KOSPI 200's upward trajectory included Doosan Enerbility, which closed at 96,500, up by 5,300, and KT and G, which rose by 4,100 to close at 161,800. Meritz Financial also showed positive movement, ending at 121,300 with an increase of 1,700.
Meanwhile, some companies experienced declines. NAVER closed down by 4,500 at 264,500, and Kakao saw a decrease, closing at 58,500, down by 700. Despite these declines, the overall market sentiment remained positive, driven by strong performances from other sectors.
Additional contributors to the market's positive trend included Hyundai Autoever, which closed at 447,000, up by 5,000, and Hanwha Ocean, which rose by 2,600 to close at 144,000. SK Square also showed a remarkable increase, closing at 569,000, up by 23,000, further supporting the index's upward momentum.
