Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index showcased a mixed performance in its latest trading session, with several companies experiencing notable fluctuations in their stock prices. This varied movement among different sectors highlights the ongoing volatility within the South Korean market.
According to Yonhap News Agency, HanmiPharm saw a decrease of 500 in its stock price, closing at 239,500. On the other hand, SD Biosensor experienced a slight increase, closing at 9,060, up by 10. Meritz Financial's stock price remained unchanged at 117,800.
Financial groups showed some positive trends as BNK Financial Group ended the session up by 80, closing at 10,340, while iM Financial Group rose by 60 to close at 9,560. In contrast, emart witnessed a decrease of 200, ending the day at 88,300.
In the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors, DENTIUM and PIAM experienced declines, closing at 74,300 and 15,420, respectively. CHONGKUNDANG and HL MANDO also saw decreases, closing at 78,500 and 35,000, respectively. However, Samsung Biologics saw a significant rise of 3,000, closing at 1,075,000.
The technology and consumer sectors also displayed mixed results. Doosan Bobcat's stock remained stable at 44,800, while Netmarble and KRAFTON faced declines, closing at 42,800 and 379,000, respectively. HD HYUNDAI and its electric division showed contrasting movements, with the former increasing by 500 to close at 71,500, and the latter dropping by 32,500 to 301,000.
Retail and specialty chemical sectors showed upward trends with BGF Retail closing at 104,000, an increase of 100, and ISU Specialty Chemical rising by 1,450 to close at 45,700. Meanwhile, Hanwha Vision experienced a substantial decrease of 2,400, ending at 53,500.
In the financial services sector, Woori Financial Group and KakaoBank saw gains, closing at 17,070 and 21,150, respectively. However, other sectors like telecommunications and construction experienced declines, with DL E and C closing at 40,600, a drop of 350, and SKSQUARE losing 2,000 to close at 81,700.
