Hyundai Motor and KORAIL Collaborate on Smart City Infrastructure in South Korea

Seoul: Hyundai Motor Group announced its collaboration with the state-run Korea Railroad Corp. (KORAIL) to develop mobility-centered smart city infrastructure across South Korea. The partnership aims to integrate advanced mobility solutions into train station areas nationwide.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the partnership was formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed on Monday. The agreement outlines joint efforts in developing smart city infrastructure around train stations and other sites owned by KORAIL. The signing ceremony took place at a KORAIL office in Seoul, attended by key figures including Hyundai Motor Vice President Kim Heung-soo and KORAIL Vice President Jung Jeong-rae.

Hyundai Motor Group expressed that this collaboration aligns with its goal of utilizing technological capabilities to foster smart city technologies. Meanwhile, KORAIL is focusing on its transformation into a comprehensive mobility service provider. The partnership is set to apply Hyundai's mobility solutions to enhance train station development zones, with a focus on mobility-driven smart city infrastructure.

Kim Heung-soo highlighted the significance of the partnership as an opportunity to introduce integrated services and mobility solutions into transport-centered smart cities, reflecting the innovative direction both companies are taking.
