Seoul: RBW, known for managing K-pop sensations Mamamoo and Oh My Girl, has announced its acquisition of 257 Entertainment, the agency behind the "genderless" idol group Xlov. This strategic move is part of RBW's broader global expansion initiative.
According to Yonhap News Agency, RBW's subsidiary, WM Entertainment, has signed an agreement to fully take over 257 Entertainment's operations. This acquisition includes 257's intellectual property, exclusive artist contracts, and employees. In a significant structural change, 257 Entertainment CEO Park Jae-yong will join WM Entertainment as co-CEO, alongside current CEO Kim Jin-woo, establishing a shared leadership system.
Xlov, launched in January 2025 with members Rui, Haru, Wumuti, and Hyun, is recognized as the first K-pop boy group to adopt a genderless concept. The group members gained attention through major audition programs such as Mnet's "Boys Planet" and have developed a substantial international following even before their official debut.
RBW CEO Kim Jin-woo emphasized the value of 257's innovative approach and anticipates that the acquisition will lead to productive synergies by integrating the business infrastructure and expertise of RBW, DSP Media, and WM Entertainment. He expressed a strong commitment to expanding Xlov's intellectual property in the global market.
Park Jae-yong commented on the acquisition, noting that it would facilitate the rapid spread of emerging trends within the K-pop industry on a global scale.
