Foreign Pitchers Set for Showdown in KBO Postseason Series

Daegu:Two foreign-born starting pitchers are set to face off in the second game of their clubs' South Korean baseball postseason series in Daegu. The Kia Tigers, who secured a 5-1 victory over the Samsung Lions in the first game of the best-of-five second round in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) postseason, will aim for another road win with their American ace, Adam Oller, leading the charge.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Lions are determined to level the series and prevent a 2-0 deficit at home, with Panamanian right-hander Ariel Jurado taking the mound. Oller, who finished the regular season with the league's second-lowest ERA at 3.13, made a noteworthy KBO postseason debut against the LG Twins in the previous round, allowing two earned runs over six innings while striking out eight.

During the regular season, Oller had a challenging outing against the Lions, conceding eight runs on seven hits in one inning in Daegu on July 28. However, in two other encounters, he effectively limited the Lions to one run over 13 innings. Lions' Lee Jae-hyeon managed a home run and a double against Oller, while Koo Ja-wook went 3-for-7 with two RBIs. Oller successfully restricted Lewin Diaz to one single in six at-bats, striking him out thrice.

Jurado, who will be making his fifth career postseason appearance, has a record of 0-3 with a 4.29 ERA in the postseason. He faced the Tigers once during the regular season on May 15, where he allowed three runs on 10 hits over seven innings and achieved a season-high seven strikeouts, though the Tigers won 5-4. In that game, Tigers' outfielders Na Sung-bum and Kim Ho-ryung each recorded two hits.
