Heroes Ace An Woo-jin Sidelined with Biceps Tendinitis

Seoul: Kiwoom Heroes ace An Woo-jin is back on the injured list (IL) with biceps tendinitis after making only six starts this season. An, one of the top starters in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) when healthy, had a delayed start to the 2026 campaign due to a shoulder injury. The Heroes sought to ease An back into the grind, having him throw just one inning in his season debut on April 12, two innings six days later, and then three innings on April 24.

According to Yonhap News Agency, An then went five innings in two of his three starts in May, including the one against the Hanwha Eagles last Thursday. The Heroes reported that An felt some discomfort in his right biceps after his latest outing and was diagnosed with tendinitis earlier on Monday. "It is not a serious injury and he has no issues with his shoulder or elbow," the Heroes said. "We will place An Woo-jin on the 10-day IL, and he will receive some treatment while training at the same time. We will determine the timeline for his return after monitoring his progress."

An, 26, led the KBO with 224 strikeouts and a 2.11 ERA in 2022, his last full season. He underwent elbow surgery that ended his 2023 season prematurely, and he fulfilled his military duty while rehabbing his elbow. An had been scheduled to return to action last fall but then broke his shoulder in a freak incident during practice in August. The injury kept him out of action until April this year.

For this season, An has a 2.70 ERA over 20 innings and has 27 strikeouts against only five walks. Consistently one of the hardest throwers in the KBO, An is averaging 154.6 kilometers per hour with his four-seam fastball this season, tops among all pitchers with at least 20 innings pitched.
