Seoul: HD Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering Co. (HD KSOE) on Thursday announced a significant increase in its second-quarter net income, reaching 447.1 billion won (US$321.1 million), marking a 25 percent rise from the same period last year.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the company disclosed in a regulatory filing that its operating profit for the April to June quarter soared by 153.3 percent year-on-year, totaling 953.6 billion won. The revenue for the same period saw an increase of 12.3 percent, amounting to 7.42 trillion won.

The recorded operating profit exceeded the average market estimate by 3.9 percent, as determined by a survey conducted by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data division of Yonhap News Agency. However, the estimate for net profit was not provided.
