Seoul: HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. announced a significant contract win on Monday, securing a 409.5 billion-won (US$292 million) order to construct two container ships for an unnamed client in Asia. The delivery of these vessels is scheduled for completion by February 2028, as indicated in a regulatory filing by the company.

According to Yonhap News Agency, HD Hyundai Heavy operates as one of three affiliates under HD Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering Co. (HD KSOE), alongside HD Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co. and HD Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co. HD KSOE functions as a subholding entity of HD Hyundai, which was formerly known as Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings.

With this latest contract, HD KSOE has achieved orders totaling US$11.75 billion this year, covering the construction of 86 ships. This marks a completion of 65.1 percent of the company's annual target of $18.05 billion. Furthermore, as part of an ongoing restructuring initiative within South Korea's largest shipbuilding group, plans are underway for HD Hyundai Heavy and HD Hyundai Mipo to merge by December.
