Jakarta: South Korean coffee franchise Angel in Us, operated by Lotte Group affiliate Lotte GRS Co., announced its plans to reenter the Indonesian market through a master franchise agreement with a local company. Angel in Us has signed this agreement with Indonesian food and beverage company Bogajaya Group to open an outlet by the end of this year, as stated in a company press release.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the master franchise agreement will enable Bogajaya Group to open franchise units and also sub-franchise them to third parties within a specified area. A spokesperson from the company highlighted that Lotte previously operated Angel in Us outlets alongside its Lotteria burger chain in Indonesia for several years before withdrawing from the Southeast Asian market in 2020.
Through its collaboration with Bogajaya, Angel in Us aims to open 10 outlets over the next five years. This move is part of a broader strategy to establish Indonesia, with its population of approximately 270 million, as a strategic base for the franchise's global expansion.
Lotte GRS currently manages 240 Angel in Us outlets in South Korea, with no overseas outlets in operation at the moment.
