5 Out of 6 South Korean Golfers Fail to Make Cut at Open Championship

Portrush: Only one out of six South Korean players has advanced past the cut at the final major tournament of the men's golf season. Im Sung-jae emerged as the sole South Korean to make the cut at the Open Championship held at Royal Portrush Golf Club in Northern Ireland. According to Yonhap News Agency, Im Sung-jae shot an even 71 in the second round of the tournament, recording a birdie and a bogey. This mirrored his performance from the first round, placing him in a 17-way tie for 34th place. Meanwhile, World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler took the lead at 10-under after an impressive 64 on Friday. The cut line was set at one-over 143, and the remaining five South Korean golfers did not make it past this mark. Tom Kim, who was tied for 10th after the first round, missed the cut after shooting a 76 in the second round, ending at three-over. Kim Si-woo also finished at three-over with rounds of 74 and 71. Song Young-han, primarily a player on the Japanese tour, concluded at four-over with consecutive rounds of 73 . An Byeong-hun's efforts in the second round with a 71 were insufficient to overcome his initial 76. Choi Kyoung-ju, returning to the Open Championship after 11 years, ended with a score of 13-over, marking the third-worst performance in the field.
