LIMA: President Yoon Suk Yeol and U.S. President Joe Biden convened for a farewell summit in Peru, reflecting on their partnership and reaffirming their commitment to enhancing the bilateral alliance, as stated by Yoon's office. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Lima, following a trilateral summit with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, according to Principal Deputy National Security Adviser Kim Tae-hyo. According to Yonhap News Agency, during the 10-minute meeting, President Yoon expressed gratitude to President Biden for his role in strengthening the South Korea-U.S. alliance and his contributions to trilateral cooperation with Japan. Yoon highlighted that many of the diplomatic and security achievements during the first half of his term were accomplished in collaboration with Biden. In response, President Biden conveyed pride in the significant achievements they have made together. He also promised to support Yoon and the bilateral rela tions under the incoming U.S. leadership, as reported by a senior presidential official.
