Washington: The United States has "strongly" condemned North Korea's recent intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) test, labeling it a "flagrant" breach of multiple U.N. Security Council resolutions. A White House official emphasized the U.S. commitment to taking "all necessary measures" to ensure the security of its homeland, as well as that of South Korea and Japan. According to Yonhap News Agency, National Security Council Spokesperson Sean Savett highlighted the gravity of the situation, stating that the launch by Pyongyang was conducted on a lofted trajectory toward the East Sea. This event occurred shortly after defense leaders from South Korea and the U.S. jointly condemned North Korea's military dispatch to Russia. Savett reiterated the U.S. position, declaring that the Democratic People's Republic of Korea's (DPRK) missile test was a clear violation of U.N. directives. The U.S. Indo-Pacific Command assessed that the launch did not pose an immediate threat to U.S. personnel or territories, nor to its allies. However, Savett warned that such actions unnecessarily raise regional tensions and could destabilize the security environment. Furthermore, Savett pointed out that this test underscores the DPRK's focus on advancing its unlawful weapons and missile programs, rather than considering the welfare of its people. He urged the international community to denounce these violations and encouraged the DPRK to halt its destabilizing activities in favor of engaging in meaningful dialogue. The U.S. national security team is reportedly in close coordination with allied nations and partners.
